Frequently Asked Questions

How should I determine how much bark I will need?

Initially, we recommend putting bark down 2-3 inches deep, and then
adding to that periodically as it breaks down and as you want a fresh look.

We measure and install bark by the cubic yard. This is how much 1 cubic
yard will cover:

  • 324 sq ft at 1 inch deep
  • 162 sq ft at 2 inches deep
  • 108 sq ft at 3 inches deep

If you know approximately how many square feet you’d like covered, and
you’d like help with the calculations, please just give us a call.

Is there a minimum number of yards per job?

Yes, we generally have a minimum of 10 yards per job during our busy
season, which runs from April to July. Some customers with smaller yards
team up with a neighbor to meet the minimum. Or please check
availability for a smaller job in the less busy months.

What does your service include?

Our team will expertly blow in bark to your landscape beds, which creates
a smooth, even look that is far superior and faster compared to hand
installation. We always clean up afterwards using air blowers to make
sure your yard looks amazing. (If surfaces are wet due to sprinklers or
rain, some bark particles will stick. We will do our best with blowers, but
you may need to use a garden hose to spray the surfaces clean.)

How long does bark last?

Depending on the bark size and depth, it can last 2-3 years. The bottom
layer will deteriorate first and become an amendment to your soil. Some
of our customers refresh bark yearly, to enjoy the lovely look and smell of
fresh bark.

Does your landscape bark have any chemicals or dyes added?

No, we use only natural tree bark, with nothing added. We would never
add chemicals or dyes, because these may harm your soil or plants, or
contaminate runoff water. Natural tree bark products provide benefits for
your landscape.

Should I install weed fabric or plastic liners before receiving bark?

If you have bark installed at 3 inches deep, this will give you the same
weed control without the extra time and effort. Plastic should never be
used because it will prevent both water and air from passing through,
leading to either dry or moldy soil. Weed fabric makes additional planting
difficult, and both materials prevent your soil from receiving beneficial
amendments from natural deterioration of bark over time.

How far does your hose reach?

Our standard truck carries hoses that will reach approximately 250 feet,
plenty for most jobs. If you require a longer reach, please let us know
when scheduling.

Rick and Dakota did an amazing job at our house. They went out of their way to make it look great. They even spent a lot of time doing clean up. Have used the other guys in the past, but would highly recommend using Advanced! We will use them again.

On time, good communication, very even job, clean up looks better than before they started! because they do such a great job of putting it down, they amount of bark needed is far less than if I did it my self with a rake. This is a first class operation from start to finish!!!

Our HOA has a park, and the playground area needed new bark. Advanced Bark showed up on time, delivered the bark and leveled it. They checked with me before they left to be sure everything was good. The material had been raked and looked awesome. I highly recommend them.
