I had removed the sod between my driveway and my sidewalk (which runs from my door to the street), replaced it with drought-resistant plants, and laid a drip system. I also planted a young spruce tree in the side yard and had a couple of “thin spots” in the existing bark that needed a touch up. I wanted to protect the roots of the new plants before our first significant frost. No, I didn’t plan well in advance, so availability was crucial. Advanced scheduled delivery within 6 days (and I pushed that back one day due to rain). As fate would have it, 4 days after the bark was laid, our overnight temperature dropped to 29 degrees. The bark was blown in just in the nick of time! As for a price comparison with the other 2 local bark blowing companies, Advanced was the least expensive. One competitor had slightly higher prices (the job would have cost $60 more), but the other competitor’s prices were 40% higher than Advanced (and I did not consider them for this reason). Advanced has a 10-yard minimum, but it turns out that I needed 7 yards for the prime target and I utilized every bit of the last 3 yards for the side yard. 10-yards was the perfect amount. As for the team, receptionist Donna is a delightful, helpful, communicative woman and was easy to work with. Mark, Rick, and Glen (the owner) all showed up for the job. They called when on their way, arrived when they said they would, worked efficiently and cohesively, and were very friendly and accommodating. (I am one of those homeowners who supervises the entire job and asks questions.) Mark did the blowing and was so very attentive to details. Rick assisted with the unloading, moving the heavy hose, and loading the truck when they were done. Mark didn’t smother the delicate plants. Instead, he accommodated my request to leave a little extra bark next to those plants so that at I could cover their roots by hand after the job was completed. Glen was meticulous about the clean-up. He even raked up some fallen maple leaves that were not his responsibility. When the job was completed, Glen ensured that the results were to my complete satisfaction and even checked to make sure the invoice reflected the price I was expecting. Would I utilize their services in the future? You bet I would! I felt “taken care of”. I was so happy with the team and the results that I asked for a bid for touching up my remaining beds with bark (for next spring).
